NJR Clean Energy Ventures has made an agreement with Adler Development to lease space on four buildings in central New Jersey for rooftop solar systems. The $17 million project will be capable of generating 3.9 megawatts of energy, the company said in a press release today.
NJR Clean Energy is a subsidiary of Wall-based New Jersey Resources, a public energy company with $2.5 billion in annual revenues, that sells retail and wholesale gas and services throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Edison-based Adler, a family-owned and operated development company specializing in warehouse and flex space, will lease over 900,000 square feet of roof space to NJR for a period of 20 years. Tenants will be offered power purchase agreements for electricity that is cheaper than their current rates. Thin film solar modules will be made by United Solar, a national firm.
The company estimates that up to 65 construction jobs will be created and the project will be operational by September or October 2010.
